Apple Day

[Oct-01] Apple Day is an annual and national Scouts Canada event. Beaver and Cub Scouts go out in to the community and hand out apples and receive donations in exchange. All funds raised go to help with our youth programming, which includes camping and other events.

Kick-Off Camping

[September] Both the Beavers and Cubs were out early this year kicking-off the season, camping in Golden Ears Park and Camp Whonnock, in Maple Ridge, B.C; even the Venturers were at Camp Mardi-Gras in Gibson’s B.C. The youth learned some valuable skills, including how to handle knives safely, build campfires, apply basic first-aid, and of course… we fit a few songs, skits and cheers in.

Good Turn Week

[May-30] Many youth and Scouters from all sections completed an official Good Turn Week project at the Ridge Meadows Hospital.  Funded by Scouts Canada, we were able to refurbish existing garden boxes, build new boxes, plant flowers, brought in some fresh soil and mulch, and planted a new Douglas Fir tree to replace one that blew down in a recent windstorm.

Here is a write-up and additional pictures about the project on the Scouts Canada site: http://one.scouts.ca/goodturnweek/all-project-list/hospital-garden-enhancement/

Group Linking Camp

[Apr-01/03] Our Group held a linking camp at Golden Ears Provincial Park for 3rd year “white tail” Beavers joining Cubs at camp, and 3rd year “howler” Cubs joining Scouts at camp and on an adventurous 24km trek up to Alder Flats. Some beach fun, knot / compass work, and campfires were enjoyed all weekend long.
