The 1st Haney Scout Group received its charter on October 18, 1929 under the sponsorship of the St. Andrew’s Haney United Church. The Church, now known as the Golden Ears United Church, has generously provided meeting space and equipment storage since.
1st Haney provides Scouting Programs and activities for youth aged 5 through 26. The primary catchment area is central Maple Ridge (Haney) from Laity Street in the West to 227th Street in the East and from the Fraser River in the South, northward. Although a number of its members are from the extended communities of Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows.
1st Haney is one of several Scout Groups in the Three Rivers Area and part of Scouts Canada’s Fraser Valley Council. The Three Rivers Area includes groups located in Maple Ridge, Pitt Meadows and Mission.
Only through the hard work and support of its members, primary sponsor, and community supporters, has the 1st Haney Scout Group experienced the success and longevity it has.
