[May-6] For a second year running 1st Haney completed an official Good Turn Week project at the Ridge Meadows Hospital. Partly funded by Scouts Canada, we were able to revitilize existing spaces in the front of the hospital, the Oncology garden and the Alouette garden.
Here is a write-up about the project on the Scouts Canada GTW site: http://one.scouts.ca/goodturnweek/all-project-list/hospital-garden-improvement-project/
[Feb-26] We attended the annual Baden Powell Service and held our annual 1st Haney Group B.P. Banquet at Camp Whonnock. A great turnout of youth, Scouters, and families in attendance… Some Scouters received their 5 and 10 year service awards, and Scouter Ken was awarded his Medal for Good Service, congratulations to all!
[Jan-Feb] We started off 2017 very busy. Beavers went to Camp, toured Search & Rescue, and went snowshoeing; Cubs went curling, indoor rock climbing, and held cub car workshops; Scouts did some youth-led planning for 2017, had a games night, went laser-tagging, and some completed their Standard First-Aid certification; Ventuers & Rovers attended Camp Rovent in Manning Park.
[Nov-Dec] Through the remainder 2016 everyone was busying polishing off the year. We were out doing some urban orienteering (Troop), sleepover at the hall (Beavers), camping at Golden Ears, Stave Lake and Popkum [Camp Rainbucket] (Cubs, Troop & Venturers), indoor rock-climbing (Beavers)… Oh! We also took 1st place overall in the Maple Ridge Christmas Parade!!! Looking forward to the remainder of the season.
A big congratulations to our very own Scouter Jonathan Smyth for his 25 year service pin!
[December] Our Christmas Tree lot is nearly ready. Opening day is November 26th at the Cap’s Cycling in Maple Ridge, on Lougheed HWY. We’ll be open until December 23rd or when we sell out… and we’ve been selling out every year, so don’t waste time and come on down as soon as we open up!
